About Me
Hello, I’m Clare and I teach the flute and piano from my music studio in Warwickshire.
Since the onset of the Corona (Covid 19) virus I have been giving online lessons to my existing pupils and having found that this works really well, am now offering online lessons to new pupils.
I started playing the piano aged 8 and the flute from 13. I achieved Grade 8 in piano and in flute Grade 8 with Distinction and then a London College of Music Performance Diploma.
After school, I trained and qualified as a teacher at Cambridge University’s Homerton College and subsequently spent several years’ as a general class teacher with children aged seven to ten years old. This gave me extensive and valuable teaching experience with younger children.
I have been teaching flute and piano for more than 15 years and offer lessons to pupils of all ages from 7 upwards. As well as children, I teach adults who played when they were younger and want to start playing again. Some of my students take ABRSM or Trinity grade exams but others just want to play for enjoyment.

Cathy, mother of 8 year old piano pupil
‘My daughter and I are very grateful for Clare. She is kind and friendly, and an excellent music teacher. We have used her for both piano and flute lessons for a few years now, and we are very happy with her teaching method. We look forward to many more years of flute and piano lessons with Clare.’
Kristy, mother of 9-year-old flute pupil
‘Clare is an excellent teacher. I really enjoy my lessons with her and would thoroughly recommend her to anyone.’
Oliver, adult piano beginner
‘Clare is a wonderfully friendly, calm and patient teacher. Both myself and my daughter look forward to our lessons every week – they are never a chore and we always come out knowing what to practice between lessons. Clare allows for every level of progress and is quite happy to try different pieces of music not just grade pieces should you want. Clare has got my daughter to Grade 5 flute in 4 years and myself to Grade 3 piano in 5 years … quite an achievement! I couldn’t recommend Clare highly enough for anyone; young or old, experienced or absolute beginner (like I was) to be taught by her.’

Lessons & Costs
Music lessons should be enjoyable; not stressful or a hardship. Regardless of your age I believe in creating a relaxed and pressure-free learning environment. Over the years I have found that 30 minutes is the right duration for lessons.
Join me for a free introductory session where we can discuss what you or your child want to achieve as well as planning lessons and agreeing IT options. For students with iPads, I use FaceTime otherwise Skype but am open to other options. A tablet or laptop is preferable to a phone as a larger screen makes for a more inclusive experience.
Ongoing lessons are charged at £17.50 per 30-minute session, payable in advance for blocks of 4 lessons.
